Controlled mechanical ventilation accessories for single-family homes

Controlled mechanical ventilation for single-family homes, also known by the initials VMC, offers us countless benefits when it comes to controlling air quality and improving energy efficiency within the home. To achieve this, the use of certain accessories is essential.

Single-family VMC Accessories

Single-family homes provide many possibilities for installing controlled mechanical ventilation systems, especially if they are included in the construction project or in the context of a major renovation. However, to get the most out of them on a daily basis, it is necessary to have the appropriate VMC accessories.

Obviously, VMC systems can operate without them, although it is not advisable. Let us bear in mind that if we choose not to install them, we will have to manually control the levels of humidity or harmful particles present in the environment. However, without certain sensors, this work is nearly impossible to do well.

Controlled mechanical ventilation: air quality control

There are many types of accessories for controlled mechanical ventilation installations. First of all, we would like to refer to air quality control sensors. What is the reason? They are capable of detecting impurities, harmful substances, and bad odors, such as those derived from tobacco consumption. Let's not forget that indoor air pollution is associated with many health risks.

In this sense, the system is automatically activated when the sensor detects concentrations of these elements higher than indicated. When they decrease, it turns off again. This makes it very useful both in homes with difficulties for natural ventilation and for commercial establishments.

Infrared presence detector

Without a doubt, this is one of the most useful VMC accessories in terms of energy efficiency. This detector consists of a series of infrared motion sensors capable of determining whether there is human presence inside a room or not. If there is, it automatically activates the ventilation system. When it disappears, it will turn it off.

These presence sensors come with adjustable timers that allow you to program their shutdown after the space is no longer used. A particularly useful feature in bathrooms, as it helps eliminate condensation generated by hot water.

Humidity control

This sensor is designed to determine the percentage of relative ambient humidity. Therefore, the user can adjust it personally between 40% and 90%.

If the humidity exceeds or falls below the percentage indicated by the user, the controlled mechanical ventilation system starts to work. This results in an increase in comfort and very significant energy savings.

Let's not forget that a high percentage of ambient humidity increases the sensation of cold or heat. Likewise, when it is below the recommended level, it can cause problems in the respiratory tract.

Timer

The entire VMC system, beyond the presence detector we mentioned earlier, can have a timer for delayed shutdown. Generally, it can be manually adjusted to occur within a time between 3 and 25 minutes.

In short, a controlled mechanical ventilation system helps us achieve the ideal humidity level at home. To do this, the air control system can consist of a series of accessories that facilitate this task. Undoubtedly, these tools are extremely useful when it comes to raising the level of air quality, ensuring user comfort, and improving the energy efficiency of the home.
