DAP: a key document in sustainable construction
What is it?
An Environmental Product Declaration is a document verified by an independent body that sets out the environmental impact of a product according to specific standards and based on real data. It is directly linked to Life Cycle Assessment, the methodology used to evaluate the environmental effects of a product from its manufacture through to the end of its use.
What added value does it provide?
Today, an EPD is a key document for adding value to growing certification schemes such as BREEAM, LEED and VERDE, among others. It is also an increasingly relevant requirement within the Level(s) framework and the new sustainable construction criteria in Europe.
What role does it play in the sector?
Sustainability is gaining strong momentum in the sector, although there is still much work to be done. With the EPDs for our units, Siber becomes the first European company to obtain an environmental declaration for complete ventilation systems, bringing transparency and technical rigour to the market.
Why is it important for the future?
If we want to move towards a real way out of the climate emergency, the circular economy is essential: it makes it possible to reduce waste, preserve natural resources by avoiding the continuous extraction of raw materials, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. EPDs help us measure this impact with objective data and implement improvements that reduce the environmental footprint in an efficient and verifiable way.
Villa Ayantam: the perfect sustainable home
Located in one of the most exclusive residential areas of Marbella, Malaga, this villa represents a milestone in sustainable architecture in Spain, achieving the highest score ever recorded in the BREEAM design-stage certification for a residential project. This achievement has been driven, to a large extent, by Siber’s high-efficiency ventilation system, which is key to the building’s health, comfort and energy performance.
