In this article we will talk about controlled hybrid ventilation systems and the characteristics of each of its components, such as ducts, the control unit, extraction openings, and specifically, the statomechanical air extractor as an example of ventilation in which the air extractor plays a key role for the proper functioning of the ventilation system.

Concept and principle of operation of the controlled hybrid ventilation system

It is a ventilation system where the air renewal occurs in the same way as in natural ventilation if the environmental pressure and temperature conditions are favorable. If not, the renewal occurs by mechanical means.

According to CTE DB HS, the air extraction ducts of hybrid ventilation systems must meet the following requirements:

  • Each air extraction duct must have a hybrid extractor immediately after the last extraction opening in the direction of the air.
  • They must be vertical.
  • If the ducts serve more than one dwelling, the maximum number of floors they can serve is 6. The ducts serving the last two floors cannot be collective.
  • The connection of the extraction openings and the ducts serving more than one dwelling will be made through vertical bifurcations.
  • The ducts, without obstructions inside throughout the run, will have a homogeneous section. Additionally, their interior finish will be smooth, preventing the accumulation of dust and particles inside, and ensuring air tightness for their designed pressure.
  • If the ducts pass through fire sector separators, they must comply with the fire resistance requirements set forth in the CTE DB SI, Fire Safety.
  • The system must be accessible for cleaning.

Advantages of a system with a control unit

Within hybrid ventilation systems, the management box controls the devices according to climatic conditions and programming, and allows for flow modulation. The programming intervals adapt to the user's needs.

ADVANTAGES:

  • Allows for self-diagnosis of status
  • Has autonomous operation of each vertical
  • Enables the visualization of climatic and time data, wind speed, and temperature
  • Allows modification of operating parameters

The statomechanical air extractor

A statomechanical air extractor ensures the extraction of stale air from sinks and bathrooms through the B.O.S. extraction opening and from the kitchen through the B.O.C. extraction opening.

Static operation:

  • From 1 to 10 Pa, the flow is: 18 to 30 m3/h in the case of the B.O.S. opening and 28 to 75 m3/h in the case of the B.O.C. opening, depending on the type of dwelling.
Mechanical operation:
  • Depending on the speed of the extractors, the openings operate with the following flow/pressure interval: - Low speed: from 5 to 15 Pa - High speed: from 15 to 50 Pa
This principle of operation allows for obtaining different flows for different types of dwellings.

Advantages of the statomechanical air extractor

  • Thanks to its design, the Venturi effect occurs over the cone
  • Natural draft is optimized by the design itself
  • Allows a wide range of flows
  • Thanks to the control cabinet, up to 8 appliances can be controlled, including temperature and speed
  • Simple installation: fast assembly and disassembly
  • Adapts to different "shunt" geometries
Components of a statomechanical air extractor:

• Single-phase motor • Impeller • Upper tube • Legs and bolts • Vibrated concrete cone • Lower tube • Deflector cylinder
