One of the current challenges is to achieve maximum energy efficiency in all areas. It is essential to face an era where resources are becoming increasingly scarce. Equally fundamental is to reduce pollution and fight against climate change, contributing to the sustainability of the planet in each of your daily activities (even while you sleep). In the following lines, we invite you to learn about one of the elements of the construction sector that has come to help us meet these challenges. We show you the characteristics of an efficient ventilation motor.
What is an efficient ventilation motor?
Efficient ventilation motors are those that achieve optimal operation with lower energy consumption. It is necessary to consider that one of the directives of the European Union directly applies to ErP products, Energy-related Products, which are those related to energy and the sustainability of energy resources. The technical name of this regulation that involves ventilation motors is Ecodesign 2009/125/EC. This directive reflects the requirements regarding ecological and environmentally friendly design that all equipment must comply with.
The directive we are talking about falls within the objective that the European Union has to achieve a 20% reduction in energy consumption. It also includes that 20% of all energy should be renewable, setting these goals for this same year of 2020. For all the above, this directive is also known as 20-20-20, and has been a basic strategy to underpin the actions aimed at increasing the sustainability of the EU industry.
The European Union estimates that the majority of the electrical power required in its territory is needed by electric motors and that within the community industrial sector, this power represents 70% of energy consumption.
What should be the consumption of an efficient ventilation motor?
To establish what the consumption of ventilation motors and others should be, a classification called IE code was designed, which encompasses four different categories, ranging from IE1, which is the most wasteful, to IE4, which is the most efficient. Currently, ventilation motors of 7.5 kW or more must comply with the IE3 code, unless they have variable speed. In this last case, it is sufficient to comply with the IE2 code.Among the characteristics of the IE3 ventilation motors, it stands out that, in addition to being more efficient and consuming less energy, they are more ecological, since they reduce CO2 emissions from their activity. Not to mention that, by operating under less strain, we increase their lifespan making them more reliable, with the evident collateral saving of material resources and the savings in material waste that this represents.
The advantages of opting for an efficient ventilation motor are not only for the environment, of course, but the consumer also benefits. It is estimated that a fan in just three months can have consumed an amount equivalent to its cost. However, when using such a motor, the electrical consumption decreases, allowing the user to start materializing the benefits the moment they turn the device on.
Undoubtedly, opting for an efficient ventilation motor is not an option, but if it were, it would be the best one. At Siber, we are ready to help you find the model you are looking for, with the peace of mind that the ventilation motors included in our equipment comply with the criteria of maximum energy efficiency and sustainability.
