Siber® Success Case: Bosque de Atocha Multi-Family Housing

Achieving excellent ventilation for a multi-family home requires the application of techniques and procedures with rigor, professionalism, and quality. The Siber Success Case: Bosque de Atocha Housing in the Méndez Álvaro area (Madrid) is a good example. This residential building seeks to balance organic architecture, construction solidity, control, and systematization. Let's take a closer look at this success story, which features contributions from Siber Ventilation.

Bosque de Atocha Multi-Family Housing

A modern and contemporary home must be sustainable and efficient. The example we address on this occasion meets these criteria from every point of view. In addition to having the best controlled mechanical ventilation systems, the windows, doors, and all closures ensure insulation and airtightness.

It was designed with sustainability, energy efficiency, and innovative design in mind. This has resulted in optimal ventilation in each home, which impacts air quality and well-being.

Proof of this is that it has BREEAM certification (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) with a rating of very good. This distinction ensures minimal environmental impact and optimal energy rating. Additionally, it was chosen in 2022 as the best architectural design of the year by the Outstanding Property awards in London.

Its name refers to a forest, as the initial plan included the placement of trees. Ultimately, it is vines that grow around it, projecting that sensation of an oasis in the midst of a large city like Madrid.

With a distinctive staggered white facade, its aesthetics is not its only strong point. It also maximizes natural light and, of course, includes mechanical ventilation in the home.

Multi-Family Housing Building

This project is cutting-edge in multiple aspects. In fact, the ventilation system was developed using BIM technology. Its 135 homes feature installations that have successfully combined energy efficiency and comfort. All this maintains a magnificent balance with sustainability criteria, reconnecting with the lush nature characteristic of its aesthetics.

Additionally, it incorporates microclimatic conditions that improve air quality. This building meets all requirements of the Technical Building Code (CTE) and has an energy rating of A. Its system is individualized and the technology used is the high-efficiency VMC DF Siber system (up to 95%).

Description and Features

For this multi-family housing project, we have used:
  • Siber Sky 2/2 L double-flow units without control.
  • 125 millimeter extraction and supply vents.
  • Flow regulators.
  • Acoustic silencers.
  • Circular and rectangular ducts.
Above all, high-efficiency solutions with minimal or low environmental impact have been sought. Other features of this project include:
  • A system capable of saving CO₂ emissions of 86.61% compared to the average.
  • Maximum efficiency in energy use and environmental quality.
  • A double-flow system with a high-performance heat recovery unit.
  • Control of consumption that allows savings of up to 30%
  • 80% of the main materials have an Environmental Product Declaration.
  • On-site organic waste composting system.
Given all these qualities, this multi-family housing leads the forefront of the design and installation of controlled mechanical ventilation systems. Among the advantages it offers are thermal balance and high air quality. Thus, its excellent purity conditions are guaranteed, preventing health issues such as lung diseases or transmission through the air.
