The mixed water battery that we use in Siber in our ventilation networks is an indispensable component. Thanks to it, we heat or cool the air coming from the system. Next, we will show what it consists of and how we carry out its assembly and cleaning.
Mixed Water Battery
The mixed water batteries aim to heat or cool the ventilation air coming from the system. Additionally, it can be used independently in each of the spaces that make up any property. For this, it is necessary to complement it with probes, actuators, regulators, and protections against ice formation. This component is available in seven standard sizes. In all cases, it has a treated steel casing with Aluzinc AZ 185, which guarantees its resistance. Inside, there is a three-row water coil, as well as a coil with copper tubes, connections, and aluminum fins.
On the other hand, the top houses a service cover that facilitates its inspection and cleaning, as we will see later. It also includes a drip tray for condensation, and all its ducts comply with the standards of class C airtightness according to EN 15727 regulations.
Assembly
To carry out the assembly of the mixed water battery, the following recommendations must be considered:- Use fittings with a closing collar to connect the cooling unit. These elements must never be subjected to expansion forces from the weight of the network or the installation itself.
- The connection pipes must not be bent or twisted at any time.
- To ensure the aeration of the battery, the intake pipe must be placed at the bottom of the device.
- In case of repair, frost risk, or prolonged stoppage, the cooling unit must be connected to drain the system.
- During the testing phase, it is advisable to check for leaks in the fittings.
Cleaning
The cleaning of the mixed water battery is a basic maintenance task. In this sense, the frequency with which it must be performed will vary depending on the quality of the ambient air, which will saturate its filters sooner or later. But how can we carry it out? It's quite simple:
- First, we will open the service cover located at the top of the casing.
- Next, using a soft brush, we remove dirt from the intake area. Ideally, a mild detergent that is not harmful to aluminum and copper should be used.
- Finally, we will use steam, pressurized water, or compressed air to remove the dust that has accumulated inside.
It is clear that a mixed water battery is one of the most important accessories for controlled mechanical ventilation in single-family homes. After all, it is what allows the installation to heat or cool the air that comes from the system. As we have seen, neither its assembly nor its cleaning are excessively complex. As long as, of course, it is done following the instructions and recommendations we have provided in this article.
